What a difference a Door makes

Entry Doors in any home work very hard throughout their life. If you think about how many times they are opened and closed compared to your windows the count would be staggering. We count on them to keep the elements outside along with keeping us safe from any bad elements in the area if you know what i mean. We have installed many doors in our 20 years in business here in CT. The doors that we are most impressed with are Therma Tru Doors. These fiberglass doors are not only beautiful but, strong and energy efficient. They can be stained or painted like wood. You can hit them with a hammer and not dent them. They are foam filled and for doors that have glass they are available with low E glazing. These doors are also Energy Star Rated and do qualify for a rebate. So if your thinking about changing your entry doors, think of Therma Tru Doors and Premium Siding & Windows, LLC in Naugatuck, CT

High Energy Bills in CT, Could it be my New Windows?

The cold weather will be here soon? Mild temperatures in our state of CT into the month of December has us opening our windows later into the year than usual. But, soon our furnaces will be turning on with more frequency. Did you know that one of the largest sources of heat loss come from an unlocked window? It's true, even folks with new windows have the same result. The reason why is the sash locks on newer windows often draw the sash tighter to the window frame and compress the weather stripping for a complete seal around the sash, not to mention the bottom rubber bead seal at the bottom of the sash. When checking your windows to see if there properly locked, if you have double hung windows, make sure the top sash is all the way up before you lock it. Enjoy the energy savings and end that mysterious draft in your home. Need new windows? Contact us, click here

Choosing Vinyl Siding

We will soon be into some better weather here in CT. Many folks are looking at home improvement projects such as Vinyl Siding for their home. There is an outstanding selection of quality vinyl siding available, yet many folks are just presented with only a couple selections by a contractor or big box store. Further, what is equally important is what is going under the siding, meaning the insulation board or backer. Some points to keep in mind when choosing insulation board or backer.

  • What is the R-Factor, How well does it insulate?
  •  How well does it breath? Let moisture escape from your home?
  •  Is it Energy Star Rated?
  • What is the warranty? Thermal Warranty?
  •  Does it qualify for Energy Rebates of Tax Credits?

If your Vinyl Siding contact skips over these points, find someone else. The beauty and performance is more than skin deep. A vinyl siding project because of the quality, selection and accessories available is one of the more complex home improvements decisions you will make. Take your time in selecting the right siding professional and siding products for your home. Your will enjoy a lifetime of beauty and energy savings for your home.  www.premium-siding-windows.com

Roofing in CT

Wow! What a winter. How did your Roof hold up here in CT? Now that the snow is gone, we hope. Take a look around outside, Here are some other things to look for:

  • Did you have any water at all come inside your home over the winter?
  • Have you seen any pieces of roof shingle in your yard?
  • Have your gutters pulled away from your home anywhere?
  • Do you see any strange bumps on your roof?
  • Is your roof over 15 years old?

If you could answer Yes to any of the questions above it would be wise to get a roof professional to look at your roof and gutter system. Left unchecked, leaks can cause major damage to your home with major expense. Don't count on your insurance company to pick up the tab, depending on your policy you may have no claim at all. www.premium-siding-windows.com/roofing-in-ct
